2004, YEAR OF THE FROG

Happy New Year to you all. 2004 is here and with it we have tons of fixes and improvements since the beta version of Photokeeper from December. Within another month or so, the program should be polished off enough to warrant calling it a Release Version.

Also note that there is still a few aspects of the Red Eye Removal algorithm that are not yet hooked in. This will be put in for the next version, and should improve usability of the Redout Tool.

Here are the fixes:

• optimized Director View for large albums
• optimized Photo List update
• optimized view switching
• improved current slide / page / photo synchronization when switching between different views
• many improvements to the help manual (content added and navigation improved)
• added 12 new themes
• added "Satellites" button to Main Toolbar. Tools | Move Anchor Satellites renamed to Satellites Follow Orbits, added also to Tools | Options, added " hotkey
• added Tools | Options | Show Failed Assertions When Autoplaying (defaults to not checked)
• added quick info for soundtracks
• surface tabs in property pages for photos, annotations, and shapes are now appropriately labelled Frame Surface and Inner Surface
• added Use Software Dithering checkbox in Print Dialog
• added border around slide samples in Director View for clarity
• now using bicubic downsampling in Photo View and Zoomed Thumbnail View for best image quality
• added Tools | Options | High Quality Zoom, which allows downsampling in Photo View and Zoomed Thumbnail View to be set to low quality for quick drawing (as originally)
• added holding down Shift key in Slideshow View when switching slides avoids transition effects
• autoplaying cds now display "Error: This program runs only on Windows 2000/Xp or later" dialog box when run on unsupported operating systems
• (none) theme can now be used as the default theme for the current page and / or for the system.
• improved soundtrack referencing mechanism
• added Kill All Audio command to Playlist Tracks Popup, Horizontal Divider Playlist Popup, and Playlists Popup
• added Exit Slideshow command to Slideshow View Popup
• improved toolbar button colour coding
• added Soundtracks On / Off, Delete Playlist(s), Play Playlist, Delete Track(s), Play Track buttons to Director View Toolbar
• soundtrack audio is now turned on automatically when user tries to play soundtrack, playlist, or playlist track in Director View
• spacebar in Director View now never shows Lotsa Room callout
• to toggle between Edit Slides and Edit Playlists in Director View, space must be pressed without modifier keys (control, alt, shift)
• fixed failed assertion in module cPkpSoundtrackContainer.cpp line 71, failed assertion in module cPkpPlaylistTrack.cpp line 806, caused by selecting (silence) and then selecting something else
• fixed in Director View, Play Playlist through Horizontal Divider Playlist Popup or button doesn't work initially
• fixed playlists and cut each other using slow crossfade effect (now use selected out crossfade effect)
• fixed soundtracks cut each other using slow crossfade effect (now use fade effect)
• fixed File | New when in Director View, then switch to Page View breaks redraw
• fixed shadows don't appear in formatted photo slides
• fixed separate Page Tools Toolbar disappears whenever a tool other than the Arrow Tool is selected
• fixed when tweak property value using middle mouse button and right click, mouse is still clipped to slidebox
• fixed texture samples don't get unloaded during scroll
• fixed autoplaying slideshows sometimes shows the first slide smaller than fullscreen before fullscreen mode fully entered
• fixed single line text does not centre vertically when line alignment set to spread
• fixed shapes added using (none) theme have no outlines
• fixed adding a soundtrack to fix a broken soundtrack link should not pop up Resolve Conflict dialog
• fixed dropping a soundtrack onto a broken playlist track causes assertions
• fixed selecting File | New, when in Director View and slides are loading in the background, slides keep loading even after album closed
• fixed Fixed scrollbar should not appear in sample control in Style Property Page and Theme Property Page
• fixed can't drag and drop collection to xp cd burning wizard by disallowing use of drag icon in favour of Open Collection Folder method
• fixed adding style using Add minibutton in Styleable Object Property Page creates style ok but doesn't link new style and its properties correctly
• fixed incorrect undo / redo strings "Delete Page Page 1" and similar
• fixed failed assertion in module cPkpTexture.cpp on line 274, caused by opening certain old albums with shared textures
• fixed failed assertion in module cPkpPhotoImage.cpp on line 2686
• fixed tip of the day caption draws incorrectly under windows 2000
• fixed mouse cursor flips between hourglass and pointer in menus, when moving or sizing main window, and in message boxes
• fixed on resume password protect option in screen saver causes slideshow to be interrupted by logon screen
• fixed "First" playlist doesn't get associated (and stay associated) correctly with first slide
• fixed failed assertion in module cPkpSlidePointerServer.cpp on line 44, caused by undo / redo in Director View of photo manipulation that was previously done in Page View
• fixed autoplaying cd shows IDS_COULD_NOT_SCAN_THE_NONEXISTENT_PATH_X error for folder on previously played cd
• fixed autoplaying cd never shows "Autoplaying..." text
• fixed autoplaying cd say album was created with registered version, ask to purchase Photokeeper
• fixed problems with selecting a slide in slide list control and starting slideshow from there
• fixed current slide indicator update in Director View
