A folder or directory on your computer that is used to organize the photo files in your album. Typically the photo files you use in a particular album will all come from one folder. For example if you have a series of photos from a wedding, you might place all of these photos in a folder called “Wedding”. When you create an album for the wedding, you would create the wedding album in the “Wedding” folder, and set the album’s base path to “Wedding”. An advantage to this is that all your related photos are in one place, and the entire album can be copied to a CD without hunting down all the files.
Photo files used in your album do not have to exist in the album’s base path. Such files are known as Alien Files. One disadvantage to having photos not in your base path is the fact that your photos for your album will not all be in the same location. Another disadvantage is that when an album with alien files is
moved to a different folder or even in the hard drive letter is changed, the
links to those alien files become broken.
When a photo in your album is moved or deleted from your base path it creates a Broken Link in your album. Photokeeper is able to resolve or fix this broken link if the photo is simply moved to another location. To resolve broken links select Tools->Resolve Broken Links.
